How to shop with South Birmingham Food Co-op

July 20, 2010

South Birmingham Food Co-op are very excited to be part of Stirchley Community Market. We are a not-for-profit group using our combined purchasing power to make better food available to our communities. We’ll be selling a small taster range of wholefoods, environmentally friendly toiletries and cleaning products and store cupboard items, all ethically and sustainably sourced. We’re also going to be making some snacks with food co-op products, so you can get some inspiration for how to use up your porridge oats and chick peas!

One of our aims is to reduce the environmental impact of the food we eat and an easy way to do that is to use less packaging, so when you come down to the market be sure to bring your own containers, you can weigh out the amounts you want from a yogurt pot full to an old tetra-pack, the choice is yours – just make sure you rinse it out first!

It’s our first opportunity to present the co-op to all of you and we hope you will be as excited as we are at the prospect of building a strong community food co-op in South Birmingham. Come visit our stall to find out more and to get involved. Looking forward to it!
